Israel Transfers Paratroopers Brigade to Gaza: A New Phase of the Conflict Begins

Israel Transfers Paratroopers Brigade to Gaza: A New Phase of the Conflict Begins - brigatafolgore.net

The conflict between Israel and Hamas enters a new critical phase. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have announced the transfer of elite troops, including the Paratroopers Brigade and the Nahal Brigade, to the Gaza Strip in preparation for a further expansion of military operations in the Palestinian enclave.

According to the official statement, the paratroopers, previously deployed along the Syrian border under the command of the 210th Division, have now been assigned to the 98th "HaEsh/Fire" Division, active in the northern Gaza Strip.

Simultaneously, the soldiers of the Nahal Brigade, until a few days ago engaged in the West Bank, have been reassigned to the 162nd Division, also destined to operate in northern Gaza. During their recent deployment, the Nahal Brigade arrested over 100 wanted suspects, seized dozens of weapons, and neutralized several militants considered terrorists.

Replacing these troops in their respective areas of origin will be thousands of reservists, already mobilized and heading towards the Golan Heights and the Syrian border. However, it remains uncertain whether reinforcements will also be deployed in the West Bank to fill the gap left by the Nahal Brigade.

The transfer of forces and the reorganization of military divisions follow an official decision by the Israeli security cabinet, which on May 2 approved the expansion of military operations in the Gaza Strip. The plan, strongly advocated by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz, provides for the total military control of the northern Gaza area and the forced transfer of the civilian population to the south of the enclave.

Netanyahu stated that this plan aims to achieve two strategic objectives: the definitive defeat of Hamas and the return of Israeli hostages still held in Gaza. To this end, the IDF has already issued mobilization orders for tens of thousands of reservists, in anticipation of a massive expansion of the invasion.

According to military sources, the offensive will be conducted in multiple phases and could take days or weeks to be fully implemented. The complete "cleansing" of northern Gaza is also planned, with the forced removal of civilians to the south, where the Israeli government has announced the launch of a new pilot humanitarian assistance program.
