The articulated training cycle of the 151st Infantry Regiment “Sassari” concluded in recent days with the exercise “Antilope 2026”, engaged for two weeks in a complex operational scenario characterized by phases of high-intensity defensive and offensive combat. About 250 soldiers participated in the activity, with the use of over 70 land vehicles, confirming the scope and level of realism achieved by the training.

The exercise involved an integrated multi-weapon device, with the presence of heavy mortars, snipers, UAV (unmanned aerial vehicles) assets, ACRT units from the 5th Engineer Regiment, as well as support from helicopters of the 21st Squadron Group “Orsa Maggiore” and Eurofighter jets, inserted in a training context adhering to current operational scenarios.

Planning, Maneuver, and Integration: The Goal of Antilope 2026

The central objective of the exercise was the development and consolidation of the ability to plan and conduct tactical operations, both offensive and defensive, through the coordinated integration of the various operational components. A concrete test of the Regiment's ability to operate as a multi-weapon system, where maneuver, fire, observation, and support work synchronously to achieve the tactical effect.

Significant also was the commitment on the logistical front: the unit ensured full autonomy for the entire duration of the field exercise, thanks to the setup of field kitchens, the management of transport and supplies, and the organization of medical assistance, essential elements to support operational continuity in realistic conditions.

“Tuono” Workshop: Focus on Heavy Mortars and Fire Observation

In parallel and in close synergy with “Antilope 2026”, the Heavy Mortar Workshop “Tuono” took place, open to the Brigades of the Division “Acqui” with the contribution of the Infantry School. The activity, lasting one week, involved over 50 soldiers in theoretical-practical sessions on the use of 120 mm mortars. The objective: standardize procedures and strengthen the integration of UAV systems in indirect fire observation, with reduction of the engagement cycle and increased precision of fire support.

With “Antilope 2026”, an intense and structured training cycle concludes, which tested and consolidated the ability of the 151st Regiment “Sassari” to operate in a modern and integrated manner, in line with the needs of contemporary operational contexts.
