Yesterday, the Quirinal Palace was the stage for a fundamental meeting for national security, the Supreme Defense Council, chaired by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella. Protection against cyberattacks has become a priority for Italy, which, like all European countries, must face new forms of hybrid warfare, where fake news and disinformation are used as strategic weapons.
The Council also emphasized the need to support the development of new technologies, including artificial intelligence, which is transforming the global defense landscape. Italy is committed to strengthening its technological defense capability, investing in innovation and the development of advanced technologies to face future challenges. Artificial intelligence, in particular, is taking on a central role in strategic planning and military operations, with support for autonomous systems that can improve the operational efficiency of the armed forces.
Finally, the Council reiterated its commitment to supporting the peace process in Ukraine and the stabilization of crisis areas in the Mediterranean and the Middle East. In particular, Italy has declared its support for a peaceful and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, supporting the creation of two independent and sovereign states. International dialogue, with the commitment of the international community, remains a priority for Italy, which has highlighted its active role in mediation and support for global security.
