This afternoon, Friday, September 12, 2025, at 6:00 PM, at the “Pasquale Infelisi” barracks, headquarters of the Carabinieri Legion Command “Abruzzo e Molise” in Chieti, the ceremony for the regional leadership change of the Corps will take place. In the presence of the Deputy General Commander of the Carabinieri Corps, Army Corps General Marco Minicucci, Brigadier General Antonino Neosi will hand over command to Brigadier General Gianluca Feroce, coming from the 2nd Mobile Carabinieri Brigade of Livorno.

General Neosi's Tenure

General Neosi leaves Chieti after two intense years of activity, characterized by visits to all Stations and dependent Units in the Abruzzo and Molise regions. He met with personnel, mayors, and local authorities, emphasizing the social role of the Corps as a bastion of legality and security serving the communities. Destined for Rome, he will assume the role of Director of the Historical and Documentary Assets Directorate, as well as becoming Responsible Director of the Historical Newsletter of the Corps. The ceremony will be attended by the highest civil, military, and religious Authorities of the two regions, the Provincial Commanders of Abruzzo and Molise, the leaders of the Special Units and the Forestry Organization, along with a large representation of military personnel of all ranks and the National Carabinieri and Forestry Associations in retirement.

General Feroce's Profile

The new Commander, Brigadier General Gianluca Feroce, 56 years old, Roman, has an excellent educational background and a high-level operational profile.

An officer of the 172nd “Character” course of the Military Academy of Modena, he began his career in 1995 as a Lieutenant at the 1st Carabinieri Paratrooper Battalion “Tuscania” in Livorno, framed within the Folgore Paratrooper Brigade (when the Carabinieri Corps was still an integral part of the Army). As Commander of the Carabinieri Paratrooper Company, he consolidated skills in counter-guerrilla and counter-interdiction with deployments in Sardinia, Calabria, and Puglia.

From 2000 to 2004, he commanded the Company of Rende (Cosenza), distinguishing himself in the fight against organized crime. Subsequently, he gained extensive General Staff experience at the General Command, dealing with strategic-operational planning and international missions.

Returning in 2011 to the 1st Carabinieri Paratrooper Regiment “Tuscania”, he assumed command of the Battalion, while in 2013, promoted to Colonel, he was designated to lead the Special Intervention Group (GIS), a Tier-1 Special Forces unit of the Carabinieri Corps. Since 2017, he has held senior positions at the Armament and Special Equipment Office and subsequently at the Plans and Military Police Office, with responsibilities in managing assets and missions in crisis areas.

Graduated in Law, Political Science, and Security Sciences, he attended the most prestigious interforce and NATO courses, obtaining numerous operational qualifications, including C-IED instructor, military paratrooper also internationally, and personal defense specialist.

He attended numerous qualification courses: NATO FIBUA Instructor Course at the Land Warfare Centre (Warminster – GB); Legal Advisors Course and Force Protection Orientation Course at the NATO School (Oberammergau – GER); Special Operations Component Command (SOCC) Staff Course at the NATO Special Operations Headquarters (Chièvres – BEL).

He holds various qualifications: military paratrooper (FV and TCL), lead patrol, selected patrolman, bodyguard, C-IED instructor (countering improvised explosive devices), military physical education/personal defense instructor, Romanian military paratrooper, and USAF Military Free Fall Parachutist Badge.

General Feroce has also participated in numerous multinational missions: IFOR and SFOR in Bosnia-Herzegovina, “Alba” in Albania, MSU-KFOR in Kosovo, ISAF in Afghanistan. He commanded the Multinational Specialized Unit (M.S.U.) Battalion in Pristina and the Police Advisor Team in Herat in Afghanistan in 2013, consolidating direct experience in highly complex international contexts.

Honors and Recent Assignments

Between 2019 and 2022, he led the Provincial Carabinieri Command of Genoa, before assuming, from September 2023 to September 11, 2025, the leadership of the 2nd Mobile Carabinieri Brigade, the Great Unit of the Corps that brings together the Special Forces and foreign projection units.

He is awarded numerous honors, including the Bronze Cross of Military Merit, the Mauritian Medal, and the Silver Medal of French National Defense. He is a Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic and a Full Member of the International Institute of Humanitarian Law of Sanremo. Married and father of three, he now brings his experience and operational background to the command of the Carabinieri Legion Abruzzo and Molise.
