An articulated and intense training phase has concluded in recent days, involving several units of the Brigata Paracadutisti Folgore simultaneously, confirming the high level of operational readiness and constant attention to the capacity development of the airborne troops.
At the 2nd level Tactical Training Center (CAT) in Torre Veneri, Lecce, the Savoia Cavalleria (3rd) conducted the exercise “Centauro 1/2026” together with a Joint Fire Support Team from the 185th Paratrooper Artillery Regiment Folgore. The activity aimed at consolidating combined arms operational capabilities and refining the technical-tactical procedures of the paratrooper cavalry in a high-intensity combat scenario.

During the exercise, the Centauro armored cars of the “Savoia” were employed, with which the planning and conduct capabilities of offensive and defensive combined arms operations were verified. Particular attention was dedicated to achieving C-IED, CBRN, and first aid capabilities in degraded conditions, as well as implementing C-UAS capabilities (passive and active measures), integrating APRM assets (drones), and procedures for requesting indirect fire support.
Simultaneously, at the CAT in Cesano, Rome, the 183rd Paratrooper Regiment Nembo conducted the exercise “Sagittario 2/26”, with the participation of assets from the 185th Paratrooper Artillery Regiment “Folgore”, the 2nd Grenadiers of Sardinia Regiment, and the Lancers of Montebello Regiment (8th).

The “Nembo” training activity developed through a progression that led the units to operate in complex and highly realistic scenarios, from open fields to urban environments, up to trench combat. In these contexts, planning, conduct, and command and control capabilities typical of high-intensity operations were exercised.
Particularly effective was the trench combat training, aimed at preparing personnel to operate in environments characterized by structured defensive lines, confined spaces, and close threats, where decisiveness, coordination, and resilience are crucial.

The exercises are part of the serialized activity cycle by the “Folgore” Brigade for the year 2026, in line with the role of a major combat unit focused on continuous training and capacity development. The goal remains to concretely prepare the airborne troops to operate in a multi-domain context, maintaining full operational readiness over time through continuous, coherent, and realistic preparation.
