Drone Warfare: Fiocchi Revolutionizes Individual Defense with Next-Generation Ammunition

LECCO – The threat comes from above, it's small, fast, and often lethal. To respond to this challenge in modern operational theaters, Fiocchi Munizioni — a historic excellence of Lecco now part of the giant Czechoslovak Group (CSG) — presented at Enforce Tac 2026 a solution set to change the rules of engagement: a new generation of anti-drone ammunition designed for direct use with individual weapons.

A "last line" defense

Recent global conflicts have shown how small drones (UAVs), often commercial or modified, are capable of challenging traditional air defense systems, which are too complex or costly for such volatile low-altitude targets.

The Fiocchi solution fits exactly here: providing the individual soldier with immediate defense capability. No new equipment or heavy technological modifications are needed; defense becomes part of the standard equipment.

Technical features: the power of Tungsten

The new cartridges have been designed to be perfectly compatible with standard assault rifles, starting from the caliber 5.56×45 mm NATO.

• Dispersion effect: The cartridge uses a multi-projectile system that releases tungsten pellets.
• Accuracy on small targets: The dispersion upon exiting the barrel drastically increases the probability of hitting fast and small drones.
• Urban safety: The technology is designed to limit collateral damage, making it ideal even for urbanized contexts or critical infrastructures.

Testing and Collaborations

The product development did not occur in isolation. It is the result of close collaboration with the Italian Armed Forces, which provided Army units and special departments for testing and validation in realistic scenarios.

3. Critical infrastructures: Defense of sensitive sites.

The future: production and new calibers

After the debut in Nuremberg, Fiocchi is already ready for industrial-scale production. But research does not stop: variants for other widespread calibers, such as 5.45×39 mm and 7.62×51 mm, are already in development to ensure complete coverage of global ballistic platforms.
