The Air Show Garda, one of the most spectacular and anticipated events of the year, is about to take off in Desenzano, on the shores of Lake Garda, from May 16 to 18. The event, which will involve the Italian Air Force and the 6th Wing of Ghedi, is a unique opportunity to admire high-level aerial acrobatics and participate in a series of free cultural and educational initiatives. The Program of Cultural and Educational Initiatives
The Air Show Garda will not be limited to just acrobatic flights, but will also offer numerous cultural and educational activities, all with free admission. The first appointment is set for Friday, May 16 at 4:00 PM, when a conference dedicated to the history of aerial acrobatics in Italy will take place at Palazzo Tedeschini. The meeting will feature aviation experts, including writer and historian Paolo Varriale and Roberto Bassi, author of technical volumes on the world of aviation. The commander of the 6th Wing, Colonel Luca Giuseppe Vitaliti, and journalist Pino Di Feo, who will moderate the meeting, will also be present. During the conference, some former pilots of the National Aerobatic Team will share stories and flight experiences that have marked the history of our aviation.
On Saturday, May 17, at 5:00 PM, the appointment is at the Military Seaplane Base on Via Motta, where a free concert will take place, open to the public until seats are filled. The acoustic trio from the association «Il Musicante», with Silvia Smaniotto, Andrea De Nardi, and Mario Chiesa, will offer a musical performance that will contribute to creating a unique atmosphere in anticipation of the great acrobatic show.
The Historical Exhibition and Activities for the Public
In addition to conferences and concerts, the public will be able to visit the spaces of the Seaplane Base and a fascinating exhibition area set up in the historic hangars, in collaboration with the Seaplane Base Committee. On display will be memorabilia of Francesco Agello and Dal Molin, two pioneers of Italian aviation, along with vintage photographs, original materials from the Schneider Cup, and two faithful non-flying reproductions of the iconic aircraft Macchi-Castoldi MC-72 and Ansaldo SVA. This exhibition represents a valuable opportunity to immerse oneself in the history of aviation and understand the technological and cultural evolution that has led the Frecce Tricolori to become one of the most admired aerobatic teams in the world.
The Grand Finale: The Acrobatic Show
On Sunday, May 18, the long-awaited moment: the grand finale with the acrobatic show over the Garda shoreline. Despite the incident in Pantelleria, the show has been confirmed and promises to offer a unique thrill for all spectators. The National Aerobatic Team, famous for its extraordinary evolutions in the sky, will be accompanied by aircraft from the 6th Wing of Ghedi, including the PA-200 Tornado and the F-35A Lightning II, which will create a breathtaking performance. The sky of Desenzano will transform into a natural stage where our aviation pilots will showcase all their skill and precision, giving those present an experience that will remain in everyone's heart.
