Civitavecchia, September 18, 2025 – A unique event combining speed, technology, and social inclusion took place at the port of Civitavecchia. It's a new record for Fabio Barone, the Roman driver already holding six Guinness World Records, who raced at full speed across the 205 meters of the flight deck aboard his Ferrari SF90 Stradale with over 1,000 horsepower on the Nave Trieste of the Italian Navy. The goal was to beat himself and the world speed record aboard a ship, which he already held from last year in Taranto. On July 13, 2024, Barone reached 152 km/h on the Portaeromobili Garibaldi, and today, on the jewel of Italian naval technology and engineering, driving the Ferrari prepared by Team Capristo with a special livery dedicated to the Italian Navy with the motto of Nave Trieste “Fulge super mare,” he reached a top speed of 164 km/h, 12 more than the previous limit.

Nave Trieste: the largest unit of the Italian Navy
The result marks a huge step forward compared to last year's record, which had already surpassed by 7 km/h the previous record set in 2019 by American Shea Holbrook. The latter, aboard the aircraft carrier USS Hornet, reached 145 km/h driving a Porsche Taycan. Nave Trieste, delivered to the Navy in December 2024 and classified as LHD (Landing Helicopter Dock), represents the largest naval unit built in Italy after World War II, with a length of 245 meters, a flight deck of over 230 meters, a hybrid CODLOG propulsion, and spaces capable of accommodating over 1,000 beds, 600 riflemen, and 1,200 linear meters of garage for vehicles.

The event also had a strong social significance: the boys and girls of the Associazione Italiana Persone Down (AIPD) participated as “mechanics for a day,” experiencing the thrill of the world record together with the team led by the legendary Ferrari mechanic Modesto Menabue. Thus, the challenge was not only a sporting and technological feat but also a moment of inclusion and sharing, capable of uniting engineering excellence, automotive passion, and solidarity.
