PISA – From March 23 to 27, the city of the Tower hosted the twelfth edition of the Annual International Airborne Commanders Conference (AIACC), the prestigious summit that annually brings together the leaders of airborne troops from major NATO countries, Alliance partners, and the European Union.
Adding particular institutional and strategic significance to the event was the participation of General of the Army Corps Lorenzo D’Addario, Commander of the Land Operational Forces, whose presence reaffirmed the centrality of the Italian Army in coordinating elite forces globally.

General D’Addario's Vision: Interoperability and Readiness
General D’Addario's intervention was the focal point of a debate aimed at enhancing international cooperation programs. The declared objective is the constant elevation of interoperability standards and multinational integration, elements considered indispensable today for collective security.
Welcomed by the Commander of the Paratroopers Brigade “Folgore”, Brigadier General Dario Paduano, General D’Addario engaged with commanders from 12 nations (including the USA, United Kingdom, France, Japan, and Canada), defining the guidelines for the deployment of paratrooper units in modern and complex crisis scenarios.

Global Challenges and New Technologies
At the center of the work, presided over by the high-ranking officer, were the most urgent issues of contemporary defense:
- Area Denial: Development of advanced operational procedures.
- Technological Innovation: Emphasis on operational readiness and adaptation to new conflict domains.
- Uncertainty Management: Analysis of increasingly unpredictable international scenarios requiring rapid and versatile responses.
"In a world characterized by increasing unpredictability, the ability to share information and plan joint exercises is what makes a force truly effective," was the message that emerged during the summit.

The Strategic Role of the Folgore
The conference confirmed the Paratroopers Brigade “Folgore” as an absolute excellence under the command of the Army. Thanks to its characteristics of dynamism and flexibility, the "Folgore" remains the primary tool to ensure an immediate Defense response, capable of intervening promptly even in the most challenging locations.
General D’Addario's leadership during the AIACC not only strengthened ties within the Airborne Community but also reaffirmed Italy's commitment as a leading actor in building a "full spectrum" multinational force, ready to ensure international stability in every operational theater.
