On October 11, 2024, at the Vannucci Barracks in Livorno, Colonel Luigi Giovanni Isoni handed over command of the 9th Paratrooper Assault Regiment “Col Moschin” to his peer Andrea Bandieri. The ceremony was attended by various military and civilian authorities, including Brigadier General Marco Manzone, Commander of the COMFOSE (Army Special Forces Command), MEP Roberto Vannacci and a representation of the National Army Incursori Association (ANIE).
Colonel Isoni leaves command after three years of intense activity, during which the Unit continued to distinguish itself in strategic operations both on national soil and abroad, confirming the central role of the "Col Moschin" within the framework of Italian and NATO Special Forces.
In his farewell speech, Isoni extended heartfelt thanks to his men, collaborators, and the Authorities present, with a special thought dedicated to his family, particularly his wife and three children. Colonel Andrea Bandieri, an incursor since 2000, comes from the Joint Special Operations Command (COFS) and throughout his brilliant career has held various command positions within the Unit.
The "Ninth"
The 9th Regiment “Col Moschin” represents the spearhead of the Italian Army, with one of the most rigorous, tough, and selective training programs of the Italian armed forces, earning the incursor qualification only after a long process of about 2 years. Since its reconstitution in the post-war period, it has been involved in all military operations, often operating in multinational contexts within NATO.

It performs highly strategic tasks of political-military relevance for the nation's security and defense and high-risk operations for the protection of national interests, in every operational context, specifically designated, planned, and organized using unconventional techniques and methods of employment.
