Army intervention on SP125 completed: traffic reopened in the Foggia area - brigatafolgore.net

The intervention by the Italian Army along Provincial Road 125, in the province of Foggia, severely affected by adverse weather events that hit the area in the early days of April 2026, has concluded successfully.

The soldiers of the 11th Engineer Regiment were deployed to restore the safety and passability of the roadway, compromised by a significant landslide that had invaded the road surface.

70-meter landslide front: complex operations

The intervention involved a landslide extending for about 70 meters, with a large amount of material completely obstructing the road section.

The operations included:

  • clearing the roadway
  • removal and management of debris
  • securing the affected area

The work carried out allowed for the rapid restoration of the minimum conditions necessary for the road's reopening.

Synergy with the Fire Brigade

The activities were conducted in close collaboration with the Fire Brigade, in a coordinated action that effectively addressed the issues and reduced intervention times.

This synergy between operational forces was a key element for the success of the operation, ensuring an integrated approach to emergency management.

Technical checks and reopening to traffic

Following the technical tests carried out on April 10, 2026, which confirmed the full safety of the section, the President of the Province ordered the reopening of SP125 to traffic.

The affected section, between Ponte Celone and Ponte Lucifero, in the territory of the municipality of Faeto, became passable again starting from April 13, 2026.

Restoration of mobility for the area

The reopening of the road represents a fundamental step towards returning to normalcy for local communities.

The restoration of traffic will indeed allow for:

  • the resumption of regular connections
  • the progressive reactivation of local public transport
  • the return to safe and efficient mobility conditions

Once again, the intervention of the Army Engineers proves crucial in managing emergencies on the national territory, ensuring speed, efficiency, and operational capability in complex contexts.
