Yesterday, December 24th, the Chief of Staff of the Army, General of the Army Corps Paratrooper Carmine Masiello, visited the personnel of the Operation “Strade Sicure” deployed in the Capital to protect the community. Not a formal visit, not a routine institutional passage. The visit of the Army Commander to the troops of Operation “Strade Sicure” was above all a concrete presence, made of looks, handshakes, and words directed to those who ensure the country's security every day.

In the Capital, General Masiello wanted to personally meet the men and women of the Army engaged in the security apparatus, spending time with them, listening to them, sharing a moment that goes well beyond the hierarchical dimension. A gesture that clearly shows how the times of distance between the top and the troops are now over, recognizing the soldier in the field as a mature, aware, and central professional figure in operational action.

Greeting All “Strade Sicure” Contingents

From the operations room of “Gandin” Barracks, the Chief of Staff extended his greetings to all “Strade Sicure” contingents deployed across the national territory, connected via videoconference. A strong signal of attention to those who operate daily on the territory, often far from home, in silence and with a great sense of duty.

In his speech, General Masiello wanted to emphasize the human value even before the professional value of the service performed:

«A thought goes to all those who, every day, with dedication, courage, and a spirit of sacrifice, serve Italy at home and in international missions. Always ready, always united, always at the service of citizens.»

Words that convey the image of a modern Army, close to its men and women, aware that the strength of an Institution comes first from mutual respect and trust.

A Soldier Among Soldiers

The visit concluded with greetings to the personnel and their families, but the strongest message was another: leadership is measured by presence. General Carmine Masiello chose to be among his troops precisely when the service weighs the most, when one is far from home and loved ones, recognizing with actions, not just words, the value of those who work every day for citizens' safety.

It is a clear signal of a modern command style: less distance, more cohesion. A Chief of Staff who does not just direct but strengthens the bond with the Soldiers and makes respect for men and women in uniform visible. Because “Strade Sicure” continues even at Christmas, and it continues thanks to professionals who make no noise but keep the country safe.
