ParaZero C-UAS Technology with Low Risk of Collateral Damage

ParaZero Technologies has received its first order for DefendAir from a “major Israeli defense entity,” with a supply that includes multiple system sets and integration and training services for rapid deployment. The acquisition is part of the company's broader effort to strengthen capabilities against a growing threat: drones, increasingly present in recent conflicts and considered a direct risk to ground forces and related operations.

A “Net” Anti-UAS System to Reduce Collateral Damage

In presenting the technology, ParaZero frames the issue as a transformation that has occurred “over the last two decades”: drones, originally developed as civilian tools for filming, agricultural monitoring, deliveries, and entertainment, have become—thanks to low cost, ease of use, modularity, and remote control—also attractive tools for hostile actors. In this scenario, the company emphasizes how the battlefield is no longer just “two-dimensional” (land and armored vehicles), but now three-dimensional, with threats that are small, fast, almost silent, and multidirectional, capable of scaling from individual FPVs to large swarms and quickly exploiting target vulnerabilities. ParaZero also highlights the economic asymmetry: low-cost systems can pressure much more expensive assets and infrastructures, increasing the demand for “scalable” countermeasures.

DefendAir is a drone countermeasure technology that uses a net to capture and neutralize hostile unmanned aircraft, with the stated goal of limiting collateral damage compared to traditional kinetic approaches. The system is designed for short-range interceptions and scenarios where neutralization must occur in a controlled manner.

This is where DefendAir fits in, described by the company as a multi-layer C-UAS “soft-hard kill” system that employs a patented net launcher to intercept hostile drones. The distinctive point, in the manufacturer's narrative, is the ability to operate in a non-explosive manner, with minimal collateral damage and thus more suitable for urban environments or contexts where neutralization must be controlled. The operational architecture, according to ParaZero, is designed to integrate already available technologies with users—such as detection sensors, command and control (C2), and RF systems—to serve as an additional layer (“complementary”) to existing defenses.

In terms of deployment, the company positions DefendAir as a “complete” solution for the protection of military bases, critical infrastructures, government buildings, VIP protection, and also for use in support of infantry units. The stated benefits include a multi-layer response against drones of different sizes and from multiple directions and distances, the ability to remain effective even in RF-denied environments (where radio frequency-based countermeasures are less reliable) and against drones guided via fiber optics, as well as a low cost per interception—an element considered crucial for addressing high volumes of threats.

DefendAir can be deployed in multiple configurations:

  • via interceptor drone;
  • with fixed turret;
  • with portable “gun” type device.

The company indicates an effective range between 2 and 100 meters, depending on the configuration, and a net with dimensions ranging from 9 to 100 m². The system can be completed with optional modules such as radar, command and control relays, and radio frequency systems, to adapt to user requirements and increase effectiveness.

DefendAir Clients and Demonstrations

From the open sources available, the publicly identifiable “clients” of DefendAir remain largely unnamed: ParaZero, as often happens in the defense sector, communicates orders by describing the buyer in a generic way without revealing their identity.

Specifically, the company indicates (1) a “main Israeli defense entity” as the recipient of the first DefendAir contract announced in early January 2026, but without specifying which entity it is; (2) a “Tier 1 global defense corporation” that issued a “significant” order in October 2025, again unnamed; and (3) a “prestigious defense organization” mentioned in an August 2025 order, also unidentified.

Alongside the end clients, elements about the European commercial channel also emerge: an order from a “Dutch distributor” (described as one of the main integrators in Europe) to purchase and redistribute multiple systems through a network on the continent, and a subsequent agreement with a “leading Western European Distributor” with exclusive distribution rights in various NATO countries in Western Europe, without disclosing the partner's business name.

Finally, some communications concern demonstrations – which do not automatically equate to contracts – including a demo for about 40 NATO officers in Europe organized with the distributor, and a presentation aimed at the leadership of the German Länder police at an event organized by SIBAT/Israeli Ministry of Defense at a demonstration facility, indicated as a path towards possible future adoptions but not as a procurement already signed.

In a context where inexpensive and easily accessible drones are changing dynamics on the field, contracts like this signal the race for modular and rapidly deployable solutions. For ParaZero, it is primarily a significant “first”: a commercial debut for DefendAir with a high-profile user, potentially paving the way for further integrations and orders.
