With the conclusion of his mandate at the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps – Italy (NRDC-ITA), Paratrooper General Lorenzo D’Addario finds himself at a crucial moment in his career. A prominent figure in the Italian Army, esteemed in NATO circles and known for leadership that combines rigor and humanity, his future is the focus of great attention. From origins to Folgore

Born in Florence in 1964, D’Addario entered the Scuola Militare Nunziatella in 1980 and subsequently the Accademia Militare di Modena in 1983. The choice to belong to the Brigata Paracadutisti “Folgore” indelibly marks his career.
The first assignments at the 186° Reggimento Paracadutisti di Siena lead him to command platoons and companies, participating in delicate operations such as Provide Comfort in Iraq, Vespri Siciliani in Palermo and UNOSOM II in Somalia. These are experiences that early on confront him with complex scenarios, between operational risk and responsibility towards the men.

Parallel to his field experience, he attends numerous courses in Italy, the United Kingdom, and the United States. This advanced training strengthens his ability to read geopolitical contexts and interface with NATO allies and partners, a trait that will become distinctive of his career.

In 2010 he assumes command of the 186° Reggimento Paracadutisti “Folgore”.
Under his leadership, between February and September 2011, the unit is deployed in Afghanistan, in the province of Farah, in the districts of Bakwa and Gulistan. Here the paratroopers face widespread insurgencies and a constant hostile threat. In these conditions, D’Addario shows decisive firmness and the ability to maintain internal cohesion, confirming his reputation as a respected commander close to his men.

From 2013 to 2015 he leads the entire Brigata Paracadutisti “Folgore”, further strengthening his profile as a reference commander on the national and international scene.
