European industrial cooperation in the defense sector takes a new significant step. The German company Quantum Systems and the Ukrainian company Frontline Robotics have announced the creation of a mass production line for small drones in Germany, aimed at supplying the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The initiative materializes in the establishment of the joint venture Quantum Frontline Industries (QFI), representing a new model of transnational co-production at the heart of the European defense industry.

Production from 2026 and large-scale goals

According to the companies, production is scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2026. In the medium to long term, the stated goal is ambitious: to achieve a production capacity of up to 10,000 drones a year, marking a transition from emergency production to a truly structured industrial model.

The production line will be fully automated and located in Germany, while Frontline Robotics will provide production licenses, technical support, and operator training.

The Zoom and Linza drones: reconnaissance and attack

The joint venture will produce two systems developed by Frontline Robotics: Zoom drone and Linza drone.

The Linza is designed for attack and reconnaissance missions, with a payload capacity of up to two kilograms and an operational range of about ten kilometers. A central element of the project is the resistance to electronic warfare, thanks to communication links designed to operate even in heavily disturbed environments.

The Zoom drone, on the other hand, is dedicated to frontline tactical reconnaissance, with direct deployment on the front for target acquisition and operational data transmission.

Operational field experience

According to the Ukrainian company, over 60 operational units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces already use these drones for a wide range of missions: target identification, artillery fire adjustment, transmission of coordinates for combat planning, night operations, and in conditions of strong electronic disturbance.

This direct field experience is one of the main factors that have driven industrial production in Europe.

The previous Vector and the “German Model”

The collaboration between Germany and Ukraine in the drone sector is not new. The Ukrainian Armed Forces have been using Vector drones produced by Quantum Systems since 2022, with hundreds of units already delivered.

In the official statement, the companies described this initiative as the first large-scale industrial production of Ukrainian drones in Europe, describing the project as “the new German Model”: a synthesis of Western industrial capacity, Ukrainian operational know-how, and direct integration with battlefield needs.

Industrial and employment impact

Beyond the military dimension, the project also foresees a significant social and industrial impact, with the creation of job opportunities for Ukrainian citizens in Germany, further strengthening the bond between the two countries.

The birth of Quantum Frontline Industries thus marks a strategic shift: from the supply of systems to the European co-production of military capabilities, in a context where drones have become one of the central tools of modern conflict and the defense of the continent.
